A landmark building in the Deer Park neighbourhood is being converted from a commercial office building to luxury condos. The Imperial Oil building at St. Clair Avenue West and Avenue Road will soon to be home to multi-million dollar suites, but is disclosing some very interesting secrets of its past during conversion. This home which has been featured on HGTV’s “Mansions” is the brainchild of developer Paul Miklas. One of the features of this home is that it is so huge that people drive by often to see it. In the early 19th century, the Mount Pleasant Cemetery was the only authorized cemetery within the city of Toronto. In 2000 the cemetery was designated a National Historic Site of Canada and today it is considered one of Toronto’s tourist attractions. The cemetery forms the north border of the Moore Park Neighbourhood and this extraordinary detail became the inspiration for this photo of the day captured by skillful photographer Daniel Varnus.
