A facility for environmentally friendly vehicles to be built in Ontario
December 18, 2009
Environmentally friendly vehicles are going to be developed really close to Toronto, in Ontario! Today, the government of Canada and Magna International Inc announced their partnership and aim to build a research center for developing next-generation vehicles.
The plan is to build a $7.2 million center which would work on developing, in the words of Industry minister Tony Clement, lighter, more durable automotive parts that are safe, affordable, environmentally friendly and also fuel-efficient.
Access to the center will be given to small and medium sized companies, which, according to Clement, will have a great possibility to develop their own products using the best technology possible.
The work on this project is starting right now, and if everything goes as planned, the research center should start to be functional during the summer 2010. Good news to hear that this facility will be so close to Toronto: unlike many government programs our best specialists won’t have to leave Toronto for Thunder Bay to advance their careers. This is a great way for Ontario to add jobs and improve the environment and move ahead of other countries in advanced technology.
