A very interesting online survey of 1,225 Royal LePage real estate agents and brokers across whole Canada was conducted in November 2009. Even though our country is on a good way to recover from recession, according to its results, buyers are still worried about the stability of the economy and some of them are afraid the prices will decline once again.
The detailed results of the survey are the following:
The most common fear or hesitation about home buying real estate agents have heard from buyers in the past three months is the fear about the stability of the economy or job and personal financial security, which was the answer of 37.7 percent of respondents. The second most popular answer, 23.4 percent, was that the buyers are worried that they might not be able to sell their home at the price they would like to sell it. 20.4 percent of real estate agents said they have not really heard any concerns or fears from buyers, and 12.2 percent of brokers have noticed worries about the possible repeated decline of prices.
The most frequent answer, to the question how the number of homes sold as investment properties as compared to homes sold as primary residences moved during the past three months, was that it remained stable. 34.8 percent Royal LePage real estate agents and brokers have given this answer. According to 25.4 percent of them, the number somewhat increased and it substantially increased according to 2.8 percent of brokers. The number of homes sold as investment properties has somewhat declined according to 16.2 percent and has substantially declined according to 4.7 percent of realtors.
Regarding the number of buyers intending to renovate their properties after purchase in the past three months, 36.2 percent of real estate agents thought it remained stable, 41.1 said it has somewhat increased, and according to 7.9 percent of brokers it has substantially increased. On the other hand, 7.8 percent of real estate agents think that the number of buyers wanting to renovate their home has somewhat decreased and 1.4 percent think it has substantially declined.
It is really interesting to see what other Royal LePage realtors think about the buyers and compare it with my own thoughts. Actually, good for the buyers too, isn't it? Great to know what your real estate agent might very well be thinking about you.
