The G20 summit taking place in Toronto, and also G7 and G8 summits of this year will certainly discuss the ways of encouraging some of Asian states to allow their currencies to trade more freely. That is according to Canadian Finance Minister, Jim Flaherty. "Yes, I expect that this will be a topic of discussion at the meetings." he said yesterday at a press conference in Winnipeg.

Flaherty however claims that the currency issue is not a new one, and he has been dealing with it for about four years already. "There was more movement in some of the Asian currencies before the economic crisis." he argues. As for other topics, Flaherty also wants to discuss reform of financial systems at the summits, which is a persisting major concern in his opinion.

Let's just see whether the mentioned issues will indeed be discussed in detail or even solved at the summits. Don't forget we might well have a great insight to at least the G20 meeting, as it will take place right here in Toronto.
