Fast Start of New Year in GTA housing Market,
98 Carr Street

What a fast and strong start of the New Year in the GTA housing market! According to Toronto Real Estate Board, during the first two weeks of January 2010 1, 749 home sales on the Multiple Listing Service were reported in Greater Toronto Area. In comparison with last year, the sales almost doubled. During the same period in 2009, only 888 sales were reported.

The average price for a home in first two weeks of this year was $395,307. It means an increase from last year too, as the average price during the very same period a year before was $332,495.

As for Toronto solely, 708 homes were sold during the first two weeks in the city during January 2010, compared to 369 sold homes during the same period last year. The average price increased from $350,835 to $401,120 over the year in Toronto.

Nice start, really. The beginning of last year was quite critical, but it is getting better and better. Let’s hope this trend will continue in whole 2010!
