Just one, but prestigious marathon for Toronto! The representatives of our city want to reduce the number of marathons in Toronto, as they have been hearing many complaints of citizens lately.

Apparently, the citizens of Toronto do not like the idea of two marathons with only three weeks apart every fall in the city. On February 2nd, the Toronto Works committee will be dealing with this issue. If the suggestion of just one marathon will be approved next week, city council will vote on it next month.

The complaints of the citizens are not the only reason for having just one marathon, actually. Toronto representatives want to make the Toronto marathon prestigious. Both marathons n our city together only had about 5,000 runners, which is a really low number compared to many other cities. As the report claims “One marathon for the City of Toronto can enhance a city’s athletic running profile on a local, national and in some cases international level.“

I’m pretty sure just one marathon would be more convenient for us, the citizens. And yeah, it could bring some prestige. However, what about the people that enjoy both marathons? They would certainly miss having two of them.
