Record December Home Sales
January 17, 2010
Sales of homes across Canada reached record levels in the last month of 2009, the report of Canada Real Estate Association released on Friday claims. In comparison with December 2008, the sales increased by as much as 72 percent.
There were 27,744 sold homes in December, a really strong rise from 2008. Actually, in 2008, the number of sold properties was at the lowest level in a decade, according to CREA. The absolutely highest sales for December 2009 were reported in Ontario, New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, Quebec, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Nice that Ontario belong to places with the biggest sales again, isn’t it?
Overall, there were 465,251 homes sold in 2009, which means a 7.7 percent increase from 2008. However, this still does not top the 2007 numbers. Sales in 2007 were up 10.7 percent if compared to this past year. Anyway, I’m looking forward to see the 2010 statistics! Let’s see if we can do even better than in 2007.
