‘The Thing’ prequel to be shot in Toronto

January 5, 2010

Another movie is going to be shot in Toronto! After popular titles such as Hairspray, The Fly or My Big Fat Greek Wedding, the shooting of a prequel to John Carpenter’s sci-fi horror movie from 1982 called The Thing is scheduled to start here this March. The shooting is supposed to last at least until June.

The movie, written by Ronald Moore will mainly focus on Norwegian group which discovered "the thing" before the group lead by Kurt Russel from the movie shot in 1982 did. If everything goes as expected, the movie should hit the cinemas sometime in 2011. There is no exact release date yet, though.

I’m quite curios about the result of this shooting. Hopefully it will also take place outside, not only in studios, so nice parts of our city can be shown. Well, I guess I will just have to wait until 2011 to see it!
