It Is All About The Money by Jose Maria Perez Nunez
The G20 summit, a very exciting and probably the biggest security event to take place in Toronto this June (I have already mentioned it in several of my posts), is starting to be a little problematic. The reason is that our city has warned the federal government that it certainly will not pay additional costs for the summit.
Since Toronto was not originally supposed to host the summit (Huntville was), councilor Adam Vaughan is kind of skeptic. He said that "Huntsville was given years to prepare and millions of dollars to prepare. We are being given months to prepare and virtually no firm commitment that we are not going to be on the hook for this."
However, according to Mayor David Miller, the situation is going to be solved, as Ottawa has apparently agreed to cover Toronto’s costs for the summit. Let’s hope it will indeed, so that the summit will take place with no major troubles.
