According to Toronto Real Estate Board, 3,555 home sales through the Multiple Listing Service were reported in GTA during the first two weeks of February 2010. That means a 74 percent rise from the very same period a year ago, when only 2,044 homes were sold. The average home prices in GTA rose too this February, if compared to February 2009. They increased by 18 percent from $364,748 to as much as $429,997.

As for Toronto solely, during the first two weeks of this month, 1,430 home sales were reported here. The number grew significantly, from the level of 816 during the first two weeks of February last year. There also was an increase in average home prices in our city. Last February, the average price for a home was $400,467 and this month it was $471,958 so far.

Not bad, not bad. Isn’t it great that I don’t really need to be terrified anymore when I’m about to read a new housing report? Positive news definitely lifts my spirit.
