There was growth reported in residential and also non-residential sectors. In compression with January 2009, the value of building permits in Toronto area was up by 27 percent. We are doing great, I must say, especially in comparison with other parts of our country.
In Canada overall, the data about building permits are not so positive. The value of permits actually decreased by 4.9 percent from December 2009 to January 2010. According to Statistics Canada, the value of building permits decline in 18 of 34 monitored census metropolitan areas. The biggest increase was exactly here in Toronto.
