GTA March Home Sales
March 17, 2010

Growing Up by Bong Grit
During the first two weeks of March 4, 353 home sales through Multiple Listing Service were reported in the Greater Toronto area. That is a 70 percent rise from March 2009, when only 2,562 homes were sold.
The average price for a home in the first two weeks of this month was as high as $440,153. From the very same period last year, when the average price was $365,499, that means a 20 percent rise. In the city of Toronto solely, 726 homes have been sold in March so far. Their average price was $491,680. Both numbers increased from March 2009. Exactly 987 home sales with average price $400,454 were reported during first two weeks of the month back then.
Interestingly, the sales during the first half of March this year were 16 percent higher than in a very successful month – March 2006. That is great news indeed! Is it the coming spring that inspired people to buy? Or are the numbers this great due to still low interest rates? I think it might be the mix of both.
