GTA April Housing

By , April 22, 2010

During the first two weeks of April 2010, 4,601 sales through the Multiple Listing Service were reported by Greater Toronto REALTORS. Comparing it to the same period in 2009 which had 3,681 sales, it means there was a 25 percent increase.

There was an increase in the average selling price as well. During first 14 days of April the average price of a home in GTA was $430,271, growing by 12 percent from a year ago, when the average price was only $383,361. With 9,512 recorded new listings, this means there was a 48 percent rise in this area.

So far this month there are 1,837 sales recorded in Toronto itself. Their average prices was $470,532. Both sales and the average sale price have increased over the past year, in our city. During the first two weeks of April 2009, 1,494 home sales were reported and their average price was $412,987.

Once again, the results are pretty positive. However, I expect the year-over-year rises to be less and less significant as the year goes by.
