Once again, the Economist Intelligence Unit has published a list of the most livable cities in the world. According to the list, in 2010, the best city to live in is Vancouver – it achieved 98 percent out of 100.The second place belongs to Vienna, with 97.9 percent and Melbourne, with 97.5, came in third.

I am pleased to say that Vancouver is not the only Canadian city in the top 10. Toronto also ranked very well; it ended up in the fourth place with 97.2. Calgary did great, too, and placed only slightly lower than Toronto – it was the fifth with 96.6 percent. The rest of the top 10 list is filled with mostly Australian cities – Sydney, Perth, and Adelaide. Helsinki and Auckland also ranked highly and finished in the bottom half of the top 10.

The result of the EIU list is brilliant news for Australia and also our own country. Three Canadian cities among the top 10 (actually even among top 5) livable cities in the world is a fantastic. I think the Olympics may have helped Vancouver take first place, but it still is a great honor to live in a state with such great cities.
