More positive news! March was a pretty successful month when considering the wholesale sales in Canada. Not only had they increased for the fourth time in five months, but the rise was lot faster than many economists had predicted. The overall prediction was a 0.6 percent growth, but it was actually more than twice this amount - the sales rose by 1.4 percent to $44.4 billion according to Statistics Canada.

Six out of seven categories followed by the agency, making up for about 85 percent of total sales, increased in March. The most significant, was the rise of machinery, equipment and supplies sales, which rose by 4.9 percent to $8.9 billion. Interestingly, building material increased for the seventh month in row - in March their growth was 1.6 percent.

A decline was reported in wholesale inventories. Not a big one though, just 0.2 percent, which is not a lot. Thus overall, it can be said that the results are better than good.
