There is great news for Torontians who like to enjoy culture every once in a while. The North American debut of a musical called Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is taking place at the Princess of Wales Theater right here in our city. There is not long before this musical arrives, in fact it is this October, so few months to go, before going on to perform on Broadway next spring.
The musical about three friends traveling in the Australian outback was originally planning to come to Toronto this season – 2009/2010. However, as its stay in London's West End Theater was extended, it won’t be here until the 2010/2011 season. You can look forward to seeing fellow Canadians David Lopez, Thom Allison, Susan Dunstan, C. David Johnson, as well as Australian actor Tony Sheldon and Will Swenson from the US. The show will also couple of well known music hits including “I Will Survive”!
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is supposed to stay in Toronto for 12 weeks, with its previews planned for October 12, 2010 and official start two weeks later. Therefore we will all have plenty of opportunities to see it live! I cannot wait!
