Another month has gone by, which means that new figures about GTA housing are here! As for May 2010, Greater Toronto Realtors reported 9,470 sales through the Multiple Listing Service. The figures are not that bad, but if compared to May 2009, there was a 1 percent drop.
On a positive note, new listings increased by 38 percent from May 2009 to 18,940. There was also a year over year rise in the average price for a home. It was $446,593 last month, which means a 13 percent rise from the $395,609 figure reported just a year ago.
Once again, the results are average. Not great, but not bad either. As long as they are like this we can be satisfied. I cannot wait to see the numbers in June – the situation may well change since the Bank of Canada has decided to push up the key lending rate.
