The first two weeks of June have passed and the Toronto Real Estate Board has, as usual, released some fresh, interesting housing statistics for the month so far! According to Greater Toronto Realtors, 4,139 sales through the Multiple Listing Service were recorded in our area during the first half of this month.

That signalizes a quite significant decline when comparing it to the same period a year ago. This amounted to a 19% fall during first fourteen days of June 2010, only 5,185 sales were recorded. On the contrary, new listings in GTA rose by 21 percent to 7,985 this month if compared to June 2009. The average price for a home increased, too. It was $437,039 in June 2010 and $407,716 in June last year, which means a seven percent increase.

Well, such numbers bring out mixed reactions. They are not bad but they are not as positive and optimistic as we have been used to over the last year. I do not think we can expect many rises in the near future.
