The July housing news is here! According to Greater Toronto Realtors, 2,790 sales through the Multiple Listing Service were recorded in GTA during the first 14 days of this month. Not very surprisingly, the number sold was significantly higher during the same period in 2009.

Back then, 4,437 sales were reported in the area during the first two weeks of July, which is 37 percent more than the numbers recorded now. New listings also declined this month, if compared to 2009. The fall was not large, just an 8 percent drop to 5,184 sales. On the contrary, prices went up from a year ago. The average price for a sale was $427,931 during the first two weeks of this month, 8 percent more than the $394,750 reported in the first half of July 2009.

Quite expected results. High sales cannot go on forever, and last July was incredibly successful indeed. It needs to be pointed out, though, that in spite of lower numbers this month, the overall figures for 2010 should stay unchanged.
