If you liked the movie you are really going to enjoy this fresh new summer musical. Judging by the positive reaction of the audience when I attended Legally Blonde: the Musical, the funny story is enormously popular. It will put a smile on your face.

The focus of the sets is the illumination. Enormous, brightly hued frames surround the stage and change colour throughout the evening. While some producers would go very high tech and leave the rest to our imagination, no corners are cut in this show. A clever combination of high tech and traditional sets works best with a show of contradiction. A blonde girl who loves shopping, new clothes, and doesn’t read anything beyond a fashion magazine…how smart can she be? The story proves that this blonde can love fashion AND be brilliant; enjoy contemporary music AND pop culture.

Everything has been thoughtfully planned. The costumes, the choreography and, of course, the music is outstanding.

I would like to offer my congratulations to the director, design team and the actors. Reese Witherspoon is cleverly cloned by Becky Gulsvig who portrays the perfect Elle Woods. D.B. Bond and Michael Rupert as Emmett Forest and Professor Callahan also deserve kudos for recreating their roles while adding new elements.

This may not be everyone's cup of tea. Truth be told, this musical is a silly, fun- filled evening and, as one of the Senior people at Mirivsh quipped,"it smells like a great summer musical".

He is right, and his unique use of a sense not typically associated with entertainment rings true to form...

Bottom line: Yes! Go and see it! Smell it and enjoy! Don’t be disappointed: buy your tickets now.
