Toronto has the second highest parking fees among Canadian cities, the 10th Annual Parking Rate Survey of Colliers International conducted in June 2010 has found out. Not only that but the prices in the city increased by 10.2 percent over the year and they are predicted to continue rising due to supply and demand, the organization claims.

The most expensive Canadian city to park is Calgary, where the drivers have to pay about $453 per month for parking. Parking in Toronto on average costs “only” $336. The third most costly place in Canada is Montreal with $280, closely followed by Edmonton with $275. Vancouver ranked fifth where the average monthly price for parking is $266. Interestingly the capital city, Ottawa, seems to be quite cheap with its monthly parking price of $160.

This is bad news for drivers! Toronto is not dealing very well with the problem. It will be interesting to see how the candidates for the Mayor of Toronto will include parking and transport in general to their campaigns.
