An Extreme Heat Alert has been issued for the city of Toronto. Temperatures will reach the high 30’s this week and with the humidity it will feel hotter than 40 degrees on these days. It is important to keep yourself, and your loved ones, cool and hydrated when the temperature rises like this. Here are some tips on how to do this:

  • Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol
  • Limit physical exertion
  • If you don’t have air conditioning at home spend the afternoon at a public library, or community swimming pool to help cool down
  • Be aware of symptoms of heat stroke such as rapid breathing, weakness or fainting, exhaustion, headache and confusion…take a break, or call 911 for medical attention if symptoms become severe.

Remember! Children, the elderly, people with medical conditions and pets are especially prone to heat related problems. Ensure everyone is kept cool and hydrated, check on family and neighbours with limited mobility and never leave children or pets alone in a parked car.

If you can’t beat the heat, why not laugh your cares away? Here is City of Toronto Heat Alert Info! The Just For Laughs Festival is in Toronto July 6 – 11. It features popular comedians such as Sugar Sammy, Brad Garrett, Wayne Brady, Russell Peters and more!
