Time is flying by extremely fast and before we even realize, summer will be completely over and will be strolling around the city surrounded by colorful fallen leaves or falling asleep listening to autumn raindrops. Every season, including autumn, has its own typical features. These characteristics should be reflected in your home decor and garden, too.

Quite a few homes go through a regular spring, summer, autumn and winter makeover. Out of the seasons, it is autumn which seems to be the most colorful. Yellow, orange, red and brown are certainly the top colors for this season and can give your place a very warm and inviting look using them. Of course, you do need to repaint the whole property and completely change the furniture, but adding a few accessories can brighten up even the dullest of rooms.

Pillows, candles, pictures or paintings could easily change the way a room looks. They are not overly expensive and you can create specific themes for different times of the year. It is easy to buy a little painting depicting for instance, autumn nature. The painting does not have to be by a famous artist or expensive and are sold everywhere. Also the orange, red and yellow color combination is very stylish and many rooms are furnished and accessorized by items from these colors. Of course, it may well be that the décor and furniture already in your room will clash horribly with these colors, so in this instance it is probably wise not to buy them.

Leaves are pretty much what come to our mind first, when we say autumn and you could pick up a couple of nice ones from outside. This is where a vase comes in handy, use it to show the wonderful leaves you found. If you are a creative person, you may be able to turn the leaves into a very striking arrangement. A bowl full of red apples gives a little autumn atmosphere as well.

Autumn is also the time of the year when it is starting to get cold outside, so we have to prepare for the cold winter. Now is a good time to have your chimney cleaned, check your roof for problems and have the heating system checked over and in some cases, purchase and store a supply of wood. It will be easier to enjoy cold, long, autumn and winter nights if you prepare for it beforehand.
