August real estate news from the Greater Toronto Area is here! To be precise, 6,232 sales through the Multiple Listing Service were reported from GTA by the Greater Toronto Realtors. From August 2009 with 8,035 sales, it is unfortunately a quite major, approximately 22 percent drop.
A fall, if compared to August 2009, was also seen in new listings, a much less significant one, however. New listings decreased by only 1 percent, from 10,632 to 10,488. What increased, though, are the prices. The average price for a sale last month was $411,012, which is about 6 percent more than $387,921, the average price in the same month of 2009. The median price rose from $338,000 in 2009 to $358,000 this last month.
Well, it seems like the predictions about a possible housing bubble in our country, mentioned in one of my earlier articles, is not completely out of place, as the prices are the sole housing component that has been steadily growing.
