Existing home sales in Canada increased slightly from August, for the second month in a row! However, just as expected, the number of homes sold decreased quite noticeably if compared to record high sales in September 2009, the Canadian Real Estate Association reported on Friday.

In September, exactly 33,913 homes in the country were sold, which is a 3 percent rise from 32,933 units in August. An increase was recorded in about two thirds of local markets. Interestingly, the September level is actually the highest one since May and is quite comparable with home sales recorded in September 2006, 2007 and 2008. On the other hand, from September 2009, sales declined by 19.8 percent. The average prices stayed about the same, though, at $331,089 for a home.

Very nice! This is the type of news I, actually all of us I am guessing, want to hear more often. Even though from September 2009 there is a decline, we have to realize that this month was extremely successful and look at the fact that the sales this last month were at the highest level in months.
