The two number ones in 2011 may seem quite magical. And how unforgettable would it be to get married on 11/11/11? I guess there are many couples who agree and will indeed say I DO to each other then. These days many couples move in together before their wedding, but here is some real estate advice for newlyweds, specifically those who are just looking for their first home together.

The first step is to discuss and agree on what you both want in a house. Compromise is the key word here as, even though you are in love, you probably won't have the same dreams, ideas or opinions. It is much better to sit down and clarify want both of you want before starting the process of house hunting. You will avoid arguments this way, trust me.

Be reasonable and think about what you can afford. You and your partner should be honest with each other about your financial matters. Before you decide to buy a home, you should have all your debt paid off, or at a manageable level. Your finances will need to be in order to qualify for a mortgage - for most of us, it is almost impossible to purchase a house without a loan.

It is also wise to work with a real estate agent. If you are not experienced in searching for a home, it might be the best thing you can do. Agents can actually save you a lot of money. They often know how to negotiate the lowest price possible. Do a little research yourself and then choose one according to your specific needs; the agent will then work with your best interests in mind!

Once you have a home, you are probably wondering how to move all of your belongings, as well as everything your partner owns, into one single place. Any move can be difficult, and in these circumstances it is twice as hard. Sit down and carefully plan how your home will be furnished and decorated - it may be impossible to combine all the furniture you both own. Consider what you need and then get rid of what you will not use.

If you have decided to get married, congratulations! If you are buying your first home together, good luck! And don't forget to hang your beautiful wedding picture somewhere in your new home!
