The first two weeks of April are behind us and that brings a fresh Toronto Real Estate Board report with housing data for this period. Here it is! According to Greater Toronto Realtors, 4,444 homes were sold in the Greater Toronto Area in the first fourteen days of the month.

Sales have been pretty strong this month so far in spite of the fact that, in comparison with the first half of April 2010, a 3 per cent decline was recorded. Last April was amazingly successful, so this decrease is almost negligible. Prices changed noticeably, though. The average price for a transaction went up by about 12 per cent, from $430,271 to $483,165 over the year.

In the City of Toronto, sales dropped slightly, too, from 1837 seen in the first two weeks of April 2010 to 1,760 during the first half of this month. Overall, this data is satisfactory. Let‘s hope the second half of this month will be at least as good.
