GTA April Sales

Spring of 2011 has been a good period for home sales in the Greater Toronto Area, and April was no exception. As Greater Toronto Realtors reported recently, 9,041 homes were sold via the MLS system in the area this past month.

I may be repeating myself, but I would like to emphasize again what I have said in the past. April 2011 sales were down 17 per cent from the record level of 10,898 seen in April 2010, but they were fairly favourable compared to the Aprils of recent years. The month was successful, but in comparison with last year’s extremely favourable results, it may be overshadowed a little.

Again, as we saw in the last few months, prices increased in April. The average price for a home increased by nine per cent since April of 2010 to $477,407. The median price went up as well, from $373,000 to $402,000 last month.

Overall, I am satisfied. There are not many reasons to be disappointed. I hope spring will continue this lovely trend!
