Homes

Allenby real estate consists of detached single-family homes that were built in the 1930s-1940s with frontages of 25-35 feet–much larger than other neighbourhoods. These homes for sale were originally built in the Tudor style, but many new homeowners have done extensive renovations which manage to preserve the original woodwork and accents. The properties receive the benefit of updated features while maintaining the quaint historic appeal.

Schools

Parents of school age children will appreciate the number of highly rated public and private schools in the area. Allenby Public School (with its French Immersion program) is known for being one of the top schools in North Toronto.

Recreation

The Belt Line Trail is one of the biggest draws for the residents of Allenby. This 9km path runs through the city and offers walkers and joggers a beautiful natural environment to "escape the city" while remaining within the city!

For sports enthusiasts, Eglinton Park and the North Toronto Memorial Community Recreation Centre are on the eastern edge of Allenby while Memorial Park and Forest Hill Memorial Arena are situated along the western edge.

Drivers will appreciate the short 15 to 20-minute drive to downtown Toronto. In addition, the Allen Expressway is 10 minutes away and Hwy 401 is accessible via Avenue Road.

Convenient bus transportation can be found on Eglinton Avenue West to the south and Avenue Road to the east in Allenby. The closest subway station is Eglinton Station which can be accessed by buses on Eglinton Avenue.

Shopping

Eglinton Avenue, on the southern border of Allenby, is a shopper’s paradise with a variety of clothing boutiques, gourmet eateries, speciality shops, art galleries, cozy coffee shops, bookstores and much more.

Residents also enjoy the central location of businesses such as medical facilities, banks, yoga studios, pharmacies, beauty salons and spas, a gas station and other essential services.

When it comes to living in Allenby, you will find some fantastic places to eat and drink. Some of my favourite eateries in the Allenby neighbourhood include: Ferraro and 7 Numbers for authentic southern Italian cuisine, House of Chan for steak or seafood, as well as a traditional Chinese menu, Yitz’s old-school Jewish delicatessen, Tokyo Sushi  for sushi that appeals to both your eyes and your taste buds, and Tabule which specializes in Middle Eastern fare.
